Welcome to JUX

"The secret to happiness is freedom... and the secret to freedom is courage." - Thucydides

For about three years, I have wanted to start this blog. I wanted a space where I can freely express myself through all mediums and hopefully (in some way) inspire others along the way. There were multiple times when I thought making a blog was a stupid idea—it’s played out, overused, cliché. Then there were times when I thought I was going to make my blog RIGHT AWAY and it was going to be iconic. These waves of energy came and went, my procrastination set in, and the blog was never born. While this is indeed one of those waves, it’s here to stay.

A lot has happened in those three years, but the idea of having a space without guidelines never left so here it is:

Welcome to JUX!

Jux is short for juxtaposition, the comparison of two contrasting or contradicting objects. Society often categorizes people, personalities, and talents in a limiting way that confines them to a box of being an "either or," one or the other –never both. As I started to understand the different pieces of myself, I realized how much I exist in contradiction to other parts of me. Akin to many others, I am a collection of juxtaposing qualities that cannot be limited to one single or two parallel words. For example, most days I am hard and tough, while simultaneously being soft, vulnerable without borders. Because I, We, are multidimensional.

Here, you will be able to find content about beauty, lifestyle, poetry and where ever else this unconfined journey takes us. I am building this space as my new home. My new place of freedom, our new place. There are no limits here, no boundaries, no guidelines, just freedom!

Oh, yea –my name is Zoda, 21-year-old FSU grad {LOADING..} still figuring out what other essential details should follow that perfected nine-word introduction. In my writing and art, I often sign it with PHENIX, first because it’s a dope side-name, and we’ll get to the other reason later.

For now, Welcome home.
